OX Sync App
OX Sync App was a native mobile phone app for Android built specifically for smartphone users , that also have a valid OX App Suite account. The app was designed to let users sync their OX App Suite Appointments, Tasks and Contacts environment directly from a native mobile phone client. The OX Sync App was designed specifically for ease-of-use and is available for Android only.
Please note: Development of the OX Sync app by Open-Xchange has ceased, and it will be removed from the app stores by end of December 2025. Open-Xchange will be working in the upcoming months to deliver a new and enhanced solution for seamless integration of Android mobile devices with OX App Suite. We are committed to providing a great mobile user experience for our OX App Suite users on Android.
CalDAV and CardDAV for Android with OX Sync and DAVx⁵
OX App Suite supports the open synchronization standards for calendars (iCal) and contacts (vCard) through CalDAV and CardDAV. Unfortunately Android lacks native support for these open standard, while iOS supports it fully. To facilitate synchronizing calendars and contacts between Android and OX App Suite, we recommend to use the Open Source synchronization software DAVx⁵. It is completely compatible with OX App Suite and provides reliable background synchronization.
Installation of DAVx⁵ on your Mobile Device
You can download the app via https://www.davx5.com/download, it is available in multiple Android App Stores. The download from F-Droid is free, while the downloads from the other App Stores cost a small amount that sponsors the development of the Open Source application.. Please proceed to download and install it on your Android mobile device.
OX App Suite Credentials
You can locate your access data for OX App Suite in the "Connect your device" wizard within the UI. This wizard is accessible through the submenu of the help icon found in the UI menu bar. It assists in configuring local apps to access your groupware data. The final page provides instructions for setting up OX App Suite on a mobile device.

Note: Depending on the OX App Suite configuration, Exchange Active Sync might be available. This is an alternative synchronization protocol that is supported by the GMail app on Android. |
Configuration of DAVx⁵ with your OX App Suite Account
- Open DAVx⁵ and tap on the "+" or "Add Account".
- Select "Login with URL and Username".
- Tap "Next" to check the connection.
- After a successful connection, DAVx⁵ will display your available calendars and address books from OX App Suite.
- Choose which ones you want to synchronize.
- Confirm by tapping "Done" or "Synchronize".
Activate Synchronization
- Access the account overview in DAVx⁵.
- Ensure that calendar and contacts synchronization is enabled.
- Optional: Set the synchronization frequency (e.g., every 30 minutes).
- The synchronized OX App Suite calendars will automatically appear in Google Calendar or any other one using the Android calendar storage framework
- Contacts can be found in Android Contacts. You may need to activate the DAVx⁵ account there.
